Verónica was accepted into the Royal Dramatic Arts School (RESAD) in 2001 and while still a student, she was cast in several television dramas, including "Una nueva vida" (2002) and "Paco y Veva" (2003). Her breakthrough performance was in I AM JUANI (Bigas Luna, 2005) - her first major film role. For this performance, she won the Saint Jordi Award and the Barcelona Award as "Best Actress", as well as numerous nominations including for a coveted Goya Award. This success was quickly followed by roles in a number of films, including: THE LEAST OF ALL EVILS (Antonio Hernández, 2006), TOUCH THE SKY (Marcos Carnevale, 2007), and 8 DATES (Peris Romano & Rodrigo Sorogoyen, 2007). 2008 has also been a busy year for Verónica, with featured roles in MY FATHER'S HOUSE (Gorka Merchán), PRISON YARD (Belén Macías) and BUNNY & THE BULL (Paul King).

Jury's comment: "Although she was an impressive presence in her very first film, she has adapted her talent to illuminate each of her subsequent appearances. Her charm and energy make her a natural, irresistible star."
