Alba Caterina Rohrwacher studied drama and received her diploma from Scuola Nazionale di Cinema. Her career has subsequently spanned film, theatre, television and radio. Her major film roles include parts in: AN ITALIAN ROMANCE (Carlo Mazzacurati, 2004), MY BROTHER IS AN ONLY CHILD (Daniele Luchetti, 2006), DAYS AND CLOUDS (Silvio Soldini, 2007), for which she won a David Donatello Award for "Best Supporting Actress", GOOD MORNING HEARTACHE (Anna Negri, 2008) and GIOVANNA'S FATHER (Pupi Avati, 2008) which premiered at the Venice International Film Festival.
Alba has enjoyed a very active 2008, with featured roles in three films: I AM LOVE (Luca Guadagnino), THE LADIES GET THEIR SAY (Enzo Monteleone) and THE MAN WHO WILL COME (Giorgio Diritti).
Her work has received numerous awards, and in 2008 alone (in addition to the Donatello), she has been recognised with the Golden Graal as "Best Actress", the Golden Ciak as "Best Revelation Actress", and the Award Flaiano. In 2009, Alba again was awarded the David di Donatello for "Best Actress", and in 2010 she won the Golden Ciak as "Best Actress" for WHAT MORE DO I WANT by Silvio Soldini.
At the Venice International Film Festival, Alba is represented in two productions: in Competition with THE SOLITUDE OF PRIME NUMBERS by Saverio Costanzo, and in the Fuori Concorso section with SORELLE MAI by Marco Bellocchio.

Jury's comment: "She possesses an utterly natural skill, and each of her performances is always profound and complex. Her spirited playing and striking physique distinguish her from so many of her contemporaries."
