David Kross has shown formidable talent since his first role at the age of 12 in the TV movie, "Help, I'm a Boy!" by Oliver Dommenget. When he was cast in a featured role in Detlev Buck's TOUGH ENOUGH (2006), David was introduced to a large and enthusiastic new audience. The film won four German Film Awards, as well as the FIPRESCI Prize at the 2006 Berlin International Film Festival. He then went on to star in KRABAT (Marco Kreuzpaintner, 2008) with Daniel Brühl.
David was introduced to an even larger international audience through his strong performance (opposite Academy Award® winner, Kate Winslet) in the critically acclaimed film, THE READER (Stephen Daldry, 2008), based on the novel by Bernhard Schlink, which has been nominated for four Golden Globes. In 2009 David worked again with Detlev Buck on his film SAME SAME BUT DIFFERENT, shot in Cambodia. This summer David will work with Steven Spielberg, who cast him for his new project WAR HORSE. The film is scheduled for the US theatres for 2011.

Jury's comment: "A rapidly maturing talent who can express the full range of emotions, from aggression to vulnerability, while always allowing the audience to empathise with his situation on screen."
