Samuli Vauramo studied at the Theatre Academy of Finland. In 2002, Samuli had his first experience on the big screen in MAN WITHOUT A PAST, which received an Academy AwardŽ nomination in 2003 as "Best Foreign Language Film", and which was directed by Finnish master, Aki Kaurismäki.
He won his first featured role the month before graduating from the Theatre Academy in BEAUTY AND THE BASTARD (Dome Karukoski, 2005) for which he was nominated for "Best Actor" at the Finnish Film Awards. His recent work includes the lead in TEARS OF APRIL (Aku Louhimies, 2008) and two films released in 2009: STONE'S WAR (Marko Mäkilaakso) and BUNRAKU directed by Guy Moshe starring Woody Harrelson, Demi Moore and Josh Hartnett in the United States.
Currently he again is working in the US for THE AMERICAN by Anton Corbijn, playing a part alongside George Clooney.

Jury's comment: "An athletic, sensitive, and versatile actor whose commanding charisma should ensure him a great future beyond his native Finland."
