Michele Riondino was born in 1979 in Taranto, Italy. He trained at the National Academy of Drama "Silvio D'Amico" in Rome, graduating in 2000. Since then, Michele has worked successfully in theater, film and television.
His career began on the stage, under the eye of accomplished directors such as Marco Bellocchio and Emma Dante. From there, he was cast in his first major film role in THE PAST IS A FOREIGN LAND (Daniele Vicari, 2008), which won him the L.A.R.A. Award at the 2008 Rome Film Festival and a Best Actor Award at the 2009 Miami International Film Festival.
This success was followed in 2009 by FORTAPASC (Marco Risi), TEN WINTERS (Valerio Mieli) and MARPICCOLO (Alessandro di Robilant), which was selected for the 2009 Rome Film Festival.
Coming up for release in 2010, are HENRY (Alessandro Piva) and NOI CREDEVAMO (Mario Martone), which is selected for Competition at the Venice International Film Festival.
Michele has his own theatrical company.
Jury's comment: "There's a great sense of discipline in this performance as he consistently and successfully fights against the cliché around each corner. His playfulness turns to darkness in a split second, making his command of the role absolutely riveting."
