biography
Zrinka Cvitešic was born in Karlovac, Croatia in 1979. An accomplished ballroom dancer and singer, her talents were refined at The High School of Music. After her formal training at The Academy of Dramatic Art in Zagreb, she joined The Croatian National Theatre where she has appeared in numerous critically acclaimed productions.
Zrinka made her television debut in "The Big Cleaning" by Daniel Kušan in 2001 and her first leading role on the big screen was in Branko Ivanda's HORSEMAN (2004), which garnered her many accolades at international festivals. For her role in the romantic comedy, WHAT IS A MAN WITHOUT A MOUSTACHE? (Hrvoje Hribar, 2005), she won The Heart of Sarajevo as Best Actress at the 15th Sarajevo Film Festival.
In 2010, Zrinka performed as Luna in Jasmila Žbanic's ON THE PATH, which premiered in Competition at the 2010 Berlin International Film Festival and won her Best Actress Award at Alexandria Film Festival and the Pristina International Film Festival.
Jury's comment: "In ON THE PATH, she portrays a woman fiercely fighting against the odds to retain her dignity and pride. In her performance, she leads us through hope to desperation and from sadness to joy in a way which is never obvious nor predictable."
