Filmfest Hamburg: EFP hosting a workshop discussion

13.09.2010

Fascinating tales from the casting couch will be recounted by directors, actors and casting directors at an event during this year's Filmfest Hamburg. European Film Promotion (EFP) invites all those interested to attend a workshop discussion entitled Tales from the Casting Couch with two of the best European up-and-coming stars at the Thalia Theater on 4th October between 5 and 7 pm.

The actress Agata Buzek, who was presented at this year's Berlinale by EFP as a SHOOTING STAR from Poland, played alongside Ulrich Tukur in Within the Whirlwind and first became known through the feature film Valerie. Agata Buzek can be seen at the Filmfest Hamburg in the film Reverse.

The Austrian Georg Friedrich was named a SHOOTING STAR in 2004 and impressed with his roles in North Face (Nordwand), Tough Enough (Knallhart) and Import/Export. He will be seen at the Filmfest in Pia Marais' film At Ellen’s Age (Im Alter von Ellen).

Further insights into the difficult decision-making process of casting a film will be given by the director Stephan Wagner (Bella Block, Polizeiruf 110), director Pia Marais (The Unpolished/Die Unerzogenen, At Ellen’s Age/Im Alter von Ellen) as well as the German casting directors Simone Bär (The Reader, Inglorious Basterds) and Suse Marquardt (Far North, Max Manus, Songs of Love & Hate).

European Film Promotion is a Hamburg-based network of 32 European film marketing organisations, which promotes European cinema and its talents around the globe with financial support from the EU's MEDIA Programme. Each year, EFP presents the best ten European actors as SHOOTING STARS at the Berlinale.

The event is free. Please register at: info@shooting-stars.eu

Tales from the Casting Couch is a cooperation with Filmfest Hamburg and Christiane Filla.
