Europe's best young actors in Denmark
12.04.2010
Selected as the cream of Europe's acting talent, a group of eight SHOOTING STARS 2010 will be
spotlighted with their films at the
CPH PIX Film Festival in Copenhagen between April 23-25. The festival will present the actors together with
their films, involving the young talent in various activities and
bringing them into contact with international filmmakers and key persons
from the Danish film industry. Most of the SHOOTING STARS 2010 will
present their films at CPH PIX in person.
For the first time, European Film Promotion (EFP) and the CPH PIX
Copenhagen will be teaming up for EFP's Touring Shooting Stars Programme and giving the
participants exposure to the press and local audiences in Denmark after
the official presentation as SHOOTING STARS at this year’s Berlin
International Film Festival. The aim is to support the young stars in
their international careers and increase the public awareness of
European films and talent. The programme is supported financially by the
MEDIA Programme of the European Union.
CPH PIX will see Croatian SHOOTING STAR
Zrinka
Cvitešić presenting
On the Path which was screened
in Competition at this year‘s Berlinale and the 2010 Istanbul
International Film Festival.
Edward
Hogg from the UK will be seen in
Bunny and the Bull, the winner of
the British Independent Film Awards, and
Lotte
Verbeek from The Netherlands will talk about the acclaimed
Nothing Personal in which she
plays the lead role – this film was also shown at the film festival in
Istanbul.
Anders
Baasmo Christiansen, who stars in
Vegas,
will be coming from Norway, Finnish actress
Pihla
Viitala will meet with audiences to discuss the story of
Reykjavik Whale Watching Massacre
(R.W.W.M.) and
Michele
Riondino will speak about his role in the Italian comedy
Ten
Winters. Moreover, CPH PIX will screen
Grown Ups with French SHOOTING STAR
Anaïs
Demoustier and
Police,
Adjective with the Romanian actor
Dragoş
Bucur.
The CPH PIX, Denmark's biggest film festival dedicated to feature
films, will roll out in Copenhagen between April 15-25 with a programme
focussing on new talents, new ideas and artistic courage. It was
launched in 2009 as a merger between the Natfilm Festival and the
Copenhagen International Film Festival. This year, the festival will be
presenting 180 feature films from around the globe and is staging a
competition for the New Talent Grand PIX Award consisting of a €50.000
cash prize for a first time feature filmmaker.
“
We are very pleased to be able to
welcome SHOOTING STARS 2010 at our festival and present their latest
films here in Copenhagen to audiences who would otherwise hardly have
the chance to see these stories from across Europe on the big screen”,
says CPH PIX Festival Director Jacob Neiiendam. “
Our festival aims to bring people together
to see good films from all over the world, which can't be found in
regular cinema programmes and making audiences aware of new European
talent is a natural part of this.”
