In addition to the festive award ceremony in the Berlinale Palast, where the young actors receive the SHOOTING STARS award in honour of their achievments, the ten actors participate in a three-day programme of events during the Berlin International Film Festival organised by EFP in close cooperation with the Berlinale and other partners.

From the beginning of the initiative the SHOOTING STARS have been supported by some of the film world's leading stars and directors. Among those who have acted as presenters during the award ceremony on the stage are Ben Kingsley, Jeanne Moreau, Matt Damon, Gwyneth Paltrow, Doris Dörrie, Dennis Hopper, Judi Dench, Cate Blanchett, Stellan Skarsgard and in 2011 Ralph Fiennes.
